Hari Kothi is situated in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India.


Bought and presented by His Late Highness Raja Sir Bhuri Singhji of Chamba to his eldest child, Princess Rattan Deiji Saheba upon her marriage to Prince Brijmohan Palji Saheb Bahadur of Kutlehar, subsequently the Raja of Kutlehar.

Hari Kothi is one of the oldest estates of the Dharamshala region and consists of approximately four acres of tree covered prime land and a natural water spring and due to its positioning offers incomparable views of the lush green Kangra Valley and Dharamshala town in front and the snow covered Dhauladhar mountain range behind.

The estate is located in the most exclusive area of the town with the Central Tibetan Secretariat, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Gangchen Kyishong minutes walk away, the Palace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a few minutes drive away and the market, Kotwali Bazaar, a two minute drive time away.

The estate has been the hub of social activity for nearly a century now and has and continues to, host numerous Heads of State, Princes, Princesses and other distinguished guests. Swami Vivekananda too stayed here on his visit to the hill station.

The present Raja of Kutlehar, Shri Mahendra Palji Saheb Bahadur was born in this house in 1934.

The Raja Saheb Shri Mahendra Palji Saheb Bahadur gifted Hari Kothi to the Prince Rupendra as a millennium gift.

After restoring the estate to its former glory the Prince Rupendra has opened it to people who wish to view it or stay as guests.
