Rani Kamal Deiji was born to Kanwarani Saheb Shrimati Kanchan Devi and Kanwar Saheb Shri Nihal Singh ji of Chamba.
She did her schooling and college from Chamba and took lessons in singing, and was a NCC cadet later she did law from the Punjab University, and was not only the first from Himachal Pradesh but also the first lady lawyer from a Royal Family in India. She also did her Masters in classical music.
She was counted among the most beautiful and graceful ladies of India during her young days.
At the same time she did a course in business management and home science, and was a badminton champion in the university.
She was married in 1964 and in 1974 gave birth to her first and only child, Prince Rupendra.
She is the President of “Vishwa Manav Mangal Sangathan”, “Nari Jagriti”, “Bal Uthan Sangathan” and “Vishwa Rajput Sangathan” and also the president of the Mahila Congress in Kutlehar, along with various other organizations which she heads and is involved in, she also actively participates in all the personal cases of her husband, the Raja, in the Courts along with other eminent lawyers.
The Rani accepts cases free of charge from people who cannot afford the fees of a lawyer, this being especially relevant with women who have been mistreated by their families.
